Am I being a selfish veg?

Earlier I simply stated that I would like it if more people were vegetarians, because of what happens at slaughter houses and animal rights. Some people said I was being super selfish, "trying to get everyone to feel the way I do about it." I'm not trying to force people, but I would like people to know where their food comes from.
