Do other nations have as many mean-spirited control freaks as my nation does?

You can't even escape them online. They seem to be everywhere. Is this just an American phenomenon where other people butt into your business, tell you what to do, and even tell lies about you to others to make themselves into some sort of hero? Or are other nations also overrun with these type of people?
